Fish dish kills 2, downs 5 in Pangasinan


A fish dish prepared for a drinking spree turned deadly for at least two residents of a village in Pangasinan province Monday night. Radio dzRH reported late Tuesday that at least five other were hospitalized after eating the "butete" (puffer fish) dish in Binmaley town. The fatalities were initially identified as Jerry Sevillano and Albert Quitalig. Now undergoing observation at a local hospital are Zaldy Diaz, 18; Marcelo Diaz, 16; Jeffrey Diaz; Aleralo Diaz, 21; and Joven Diaz, 19, all residents of Urbiztondo town and temporarily staying at Binmaley. Initial investigation showed the men had the fish cooked for a drinking spree Monday night, but complained of stomach pains after eating the dish. When they started to vomit, they were taken to a hospital in Lingayen town.— LBG, GMANews.TV
