RP shares up on corporate results

Share prices on the Philippine Stock Exchange went up Wednesday as investors turned optimistic on corporate results. "The Philippine Stock Exchange index is looking towards the next catalyst for the market — the second-quarter or first-half earnings," said Maria Arlysa Narciso, an analyst of AB Capital Securities Inc. The PSE index climbed by 15.32 points or 0.5 percent to close at 3451.91 points. Narciso said banks would be among the "earliest to release earnings results." "Which stocks [will] move in the coming days will reveal just what the market is expecting in terms of which did well and which did not," she pointed out. —Jesse Edep/VS, GMANews.TV
