Aquino most likely to move into Bahay Pangarap soon

President Benigno Simeon "Noynoy" Aquino III will most likely move into his new official home, the Bahay Pangarap inside the Presidential Security Group (PSG) Park compound in Manila, this weekend. Bahay Pangarap (House of Dreams) is a one-bedroom home that is only five minutes away from Malacañang Palace. “Target namin before August 2, possible this weekend. Madali namang mag-transfer pero hindi pa namin masabi kung anong exact date (Our target is before August 2, possibly this weekend. It’s easy to transfer but we can’t say the exact date just yet)," PSG Commander Colonel Ramon Mateo Dizon said. Dizon said it would be a welcome move if Aquino would transfer to Bahay Pangarap because it would minimize his travel time. Aquino currently has to travel daily to and from Malacañang and Times Street in Quezon City where he is currently residing. "Bahay Pangarap" was the name given in the early 1960s by then first lady Evangelina Macapagal to the refurbished rest house located directly opposite the Palace across the Pasig River, in Malacañang Park. The rest house, designed by Architect Juan Arellano and Antonio Toledo in the 1930s, was originally planned as a venue where the President and First Family could host informal activities and social functions. It was a simple one-bedroom affair featuring a swimming pool and pergolas. During the term of president Fidel V. Ramos, Bahay Pangarap was restored and converted into the club house of the Malacañang Golf Club. Architect Franciso Mañosa supervised the restoration effort, and the New Bahay Pangarap was inaugurated in 1996 as an alternate venue for official functions as well as recreational and social activities. In 2008 during the Arroyo presidency, Bahay Pangarap underwent extensive renovation under Architect Conrad Onglao. The Commonwealth-era structures were replaced with a contemporary design, although the basic style of the original roof was retained.–VVP/KBK/TJD, GMANews.TV
