Blast rocks house of Maguindanao board member

KIDAPAWAN CITY — Cotabato City police are conducting a manhunt against unidentified men who lobbed a hand grenade Tuesday night into the house of a Maguindanao provincial board member. No one was hurt in the 8:20 p.m. blast, but it damaged three luxury cars, according to Maguindanao board member Talib “Jun" Abo Jr., son of former Parang Mayor Talib Abo Sr. Senior Superintendent Willie Dangane said initial investigation revealed that two men riding tandem on a motorcycle were seen tossing the fragmentation grenade into Abos’ house along Oblate Drive, and speed away. Abo Jr. said the attack had something to do with politics. He did not elaborate. The provincial official's house was located at the back of the Cotabato City Water District Office. Abo Jr. said the shrapnel hit a Ford F-150 car and two other luxury cars estimated to be costing more than P100, 000. He said the family has been receiving bomb threats right after the May 2010 elections. — Williamor Magbanua/LBG/RSJ, GMANews.TV
