Signal 1 up in 3 areas as 'Domeng' nears North Luzon

The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) warned residents in three areas under Signal No. 1 — Cagayan, Isabela and Aurora provinces — against possible landslides and flashfloods as Tropical Depression Domeng nears northern Luzon. "Residents living in low lying and mountainous areas under Signal No. 1 including southern Luzon, the Visayas and northern Mindanao are alerted against possible flashfloods and landslides," PAGASA said.

According to PAGASA's 11 a.m. Wednesday advisory, "Domeng" was about 430 km northeast of Virac, Catanduanes as of 10 a.m, packing maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and moving west northwest at 15 kph. By Thursday morning, it is expected to be 330 km east of Aparri, Cagayan. By Friday morning it is expected to be 120 km north of Aparri, Cagayan or 30 km north northeast of Calayan. On Saturday morning, it is expected to be 360 km west of Basco, Batanes. Meanwhile, Pagasa said a low-pressure area (LPA) in Northern Luzon was estimated at 700 km east northeast of Basco, Batanes. —VVP/RSJ, GMANews.TV
