Helmet-less city councilor dies in motorbike accident in Negros Occ


Riding a motorcycle without a helmet proved deadly for a councilor of a Negros Occidental city Thursday, a Negros news site reported Friday. La Carlota City Councilor Mark Aguirre, 55, succumbed to head injuries after he was thrown off his motorcycle, Visayan Daily Star reported. Aguirre, a neophyte councilor, was declared dead on arrival at the Don Salvador Benedicto Memorial Hospital (DSBMH) after the accident in Ayungon village in La Carlota City. Initial investigation showed Aguirre was riding on a motorcycle driven by village councilor Henry Amar, when they were hit by another motorcycle driven by Rodrigo Arca. Aguirre was thrown off the motorcycle on impact. On the other hand, Amar, a councilor of Barangay 1 Poblacion, La Carlota City, is being treated at the DSBMH for minor injuries. Arca was brought to a private hospital in Bacolod City and remained in a state of shock. He faces charges of reckless imprudence resulting to homicide. — LBG, GMANews.TV
