Catholic Church opens charity store branch in Makati mall

The Catholic Church's social action arm now has a third branch for its charity stores, the latest in a mall in Makati City. Manila auxiliary bishop Broderick Pabillo will lead a Mass during the inauguration of the "Segunda Mana" Charity Store at 11 a.m. on Sunday. "The branch in Makati City will formally be opened to the public on Sunday, August 8, after an 11 a.m. Mass that will be presided by Manila Auxiliary Bishop Broderick Pabillo, chairman of Caritas Philippines [also the National Secretariat for Social Action]," the Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) said. Caritas Manila said the store at the Makati Cinema Square along Chino Roces Avenue will be its first branch in Metro Manila’s Central Business District. It added the management of Makati Cinema Square and Top Shoppe offered them office space for free. Segunda Mana is the revitalized donations-in-kind program of Caritas Manila, where donated hand-me-down items will be sold to raise funds for poverty-alleviation initiatives, including medical and scholarship programs. Through the project, people, organizations, and corporations help by donating items they no longer need or have too much of. The first Segunda Mana Charity Store is at the headquarters of Caritas Manila, in Pandacan. The second is in Paombong town in Bulacan province. Caritas Manila said there are two main sections in the Segunda Mana Charity Store which is the brand new section and and the used or second hand section. Segunda Mana offers various items from clothes, shoes, toys, furniture, office equipment, to books for sale. — LBG, GMANews.TV
