Laguna cops use Facebook vs wanted criminals

Realizing the big potential of Facebook, police in Laguna are turning to the social networking site to track down the province’s most wanted criminals. The Laguna provincial police posted online the photos and profiles of its most wanted criminals so Facebook users can be aware of them.

A report on dzRH radio Wednesday said Laguna police chief Senior Superintendent Gilbert Cruz hopes the public can help in reporting wanted suspects if they happen to spot them. Cruz said they also hope that by posting the profiles on Facebook, the public can provide police with tips on the whereabouts of the suspects. On the other hand, he said local and national media can use the photos and information on the page to disseminate the details to the public. The Facebook page on wanted criminals can be accessed on this link. Profiles of the wanted criminals are arranged according to municipalities. Not all profiles have photos, however. Visitors who come across the wanted personalities are asked to give information to the police at 049-8101226 or 0921-9048838. — LBG/RSJ, GMANews.TV
