Cops: Palawan massacre suspects' sketches out

Policemen in Palawan have produced the cartographic sketches of two suspects in the massacre of a retired Navy official and four other persons in Puerto Princesa City. Chief Inspector Danilo Mendoza, head of the Philippine National Police (PNP) Criminal Investigation and Detection Group in Palawan, said they suspect that around four people took part in the killing, with one acting as a lookout. Those killed on Monday were retired Navy Lt. Cmdr. Ernesto Paiton; his wife Chief Petty Officer Carmelita Paiton; daughter Erlita; niece Sharon Cabatuan; and nephew Renato Cabatuan. The massacre occurred at the Naval Officers’ Village in San Miguel, Puerto Princesa City. The cartographic sketches of two of the suspects were accomplished after the police interviewed some witnesses. "Meron na tayong cartographic sketch ng suspects, dalawa ito. Ipapakita natin sa ating witness kung ito ba ang taong gumawa ng krimen (We have come up with cartographic sketches of two of the suspects. We will show them to our witnesses)," Mendoza said in an interview on dzXL radio, following a case conference. “Ang krimen ay gawa ng grupo, apat pataas ang gumawa nito, may sinasabing lookout sa labas (The crime was the handiwork of a group with at least four members, one of whom acted as lookout)," he said. Missing land titles Mendoza said most of the victims’ belongings were intact. However, the police has yet to confirm whether their land titles are missing or are just hidden in the victims' house. “Walang nawawalang gamit, intact lahat na gamit, so ang motibong robbery wala po (There was nothing missing. Their belongings were intact, so we can rule out robbery)," he said. He admitted, however, that some of the victims' land titles could not yet be found. “Babalik kami sa crime scene baka naitabi lang (We will return to the crime scene, it is possible the victim just hid the documents)," he said. –VVP, GMANews.TV
