After violent demolition, QC residents explode pillboxes

Tension continued to grip a neighborhood in Quezon City Thursday following the violent demolition of homes there Wednesday. Radio dzBB's Cecilia Villarosa reported that residents in the New Manila area exploded at least six pillboxes to ward off policemen securing a demolition team. No one was initially reported hurt in Thursday's explosions, which according to a GMA News report, occurred at the vicinity of 7th Street in the New Manila district.

Local residents exploded the pillboxes whenever they heard a police team was on its way to the area to secure a demolition team from the local government. At least 10 people, including media teams, were injured during Wednesday's demolition, which stemmed from a writ of demolition issued by the Quezon City Regional Trial Court. — RSJ, GMANews.TV
