PEP: Ogie reveals partial list of principal sponsors for his wedding with Regine

Two of the most respected songwriters in the Philippines will play beautiful music together in a special concert, O.C. at the P.I.C.C. The "O" stands for Ogie Alcasid while the "C" stands for Mr. Ryan Cayabyab. It's their first major concert, although they did work together in a private event last October 2009. "We had so much fun when we had our show last year," said Ogie during their press conference held earlier Thursday, August 12, at the Alex III restaurant on Tomas Morato, Quezon City. He added, "We are so thankful for our producers for believing in Filipino talent and Filipino music dahil sa totoo lang po, bihira na ang nagpo-produce ng concerts para sa mga Pilipinong artists. Bihira na po ang nagsusugal ng kanilang hard-earned money para sa mga concerts at sa mga Pilipinong singers. Kami ang may utang na loob sa inyo, pero hindi namin iwe-waive ang talent fee. Tatanggap pa rin kami dahil kami ay marangal na trabahador at professional kami." Ma. Pelita Peralta-Uy of Twenty Plus, one of the producers of the show, quipped, "At dahil ikaw ay magpapakasal!" Ogie declared recently that he will marry Regine Velasquez within the year. Guest performers for the upcoming concert include Noel Cabangon and The Ryan Cayabyab Singers. When Ogie was asked if Regine Velasquez will be performing that night, he said that she will just be part of the audience. O.C. at the P.I.C.C. will be staged on October 8 at 8 p.m. Aside from this concert, Ogie is also busy promoting his recently released album Ngayon at Kailanman: A Tribute to George Canseco Classics. The comedian is also slated to do a movie with Michael V but they have yet to finalize the script and the schedule of their shooting.

Someone suggested that Ogie ask Mr. Cayabyab, fondly called Mr. C, to compose a special song for the wedding. "Nahihiya ako," said Ogie shyly. "Maaari siguro tayong tatlo [ang mag-compose]. I'll probably ask if he could work on something new. That would be a dream project." In response, Mr. C stated, "Walang problema 'yon. Kung si Ryan Agoncillo at si Juday [Judy Ann Santos] nagawan ko ng kanta, mga singers pa na katulad nina Ogie at Regine [whom] I have worked with for quite some time? Bakit hindi?" He then offered a suggestion to Ogie regarding the music to be played during the ceremony. Mr. c said, "Ikaw na gumawa ng wedding march, ako na lang ang gagawa ng bridal march. Ang title 'Iniibig Kita.'" The Maestro gave a sample of the melody and composed lyrics on the spot: "Kulang ang araw at gabi / Pag kita'y kapiling / Kahit ang bukas ay hindi rin sapat / Upang mamasdan lamang kita." When asked to list the songs that he would like to sing on his wedding, Ogie answered, "To be honest, I don't know yet because Regine and I have not yet discussed the details of the wedding. But of course, it would be my songs that would be sung in that concert...este wedding." WEDDING ENTOURAGE. According to Ogie, he and Regine have yet to decide if they want the wedding ceremony to be televised. "I feel very blessed, lahat nangyayari nang sabay-sabay. I think this concert is a real blessing. I cannot discuss details about the wedding to be honest, hindi pa kami nag-uusap ni Regine about the details..." he said. When asked to name their principal sponsors, Ogie enumerated that the list will include Atty. Felipe Gozon, CEO of GMA-7; the Lhuilliers; Mother Lily Monteverde of Regal Entertainment; Megastar Sharon Cuneta; Ms. Wilma Galvante, SVP of GMA-7's Entertainment TV; and Manny V. Pangilinan, CEO of TV5. Ogie also mentioned that President Noynoy Aquino will be one of the groomsmen in the wedding, which is slated to take place within the year. Regarding their honeymoon, Ogie said that they haven't talked about it yet. He even quipped, "Honeymoon...uso pa ba yun?" Jocelyn Dimaculangan, PEP
