PEP: Kris Aquino hurt by mother-in-law's tirade

Amidst the controversy surrounding the separation of showbiz couple Kris Aquino and James Yap, Mrs. Annie Yap, mother of James, decides to speak her mind, once and for all, about the issue. In a separate interview, Mrs. Yap mentioned that James had apparently impregnated a girl prior to his wedding to Kris. The TV host-actress, according to James's mom, knew about this matter. And despite the situation, the civil wedding pushed through without the knowledge of Mrs. Yap. Consequently, even right from the start, Mrs. Yap was not in favor of Kris due to the difference of social status; Kris being a Cojuangco, comes from a privileged background while James comes from a poor family. The Queen of All Media, in an interview on The Buzz, retaliates regarding the statements issued by her mother-in-law. According to her, “Pinanood ng mga sisters ko at siyempre noong pinag-uusapan nila [interview of Mrs. Yap], hinanap ko na din at pinanood ko. Siyempre masakit. Lahat ng kapamilya, lahat ng kapatid ko, walang masama ever na sinabi tungkol kay James. Siyempre, tao din naman ako. Kung maririnig ko na never kang nagustuhan, siyempre masakit naman ‘yon." In spite of this, Kris said that she will not say anything that may ruin James's reputation for the sake of their three-year-old son Baby James. She is also trying her best to understand the situation of Mrs. Yap. “Iniisip ko na lang dahil sinabi ni Ate [Ballsy] sa akin, ‘Krissy, kung si Bimbi, kung nakikihiwalay, siyempre 'yan din ang magiging reaksiyon mo. Gagawin mo ang lahat to protect your son. Walang right, walang wrong. Ang tama lang ang anak mo, ‘yong mahal mo… At para na lang sa anak namin tatahimik ako." Kris admitted that she got hurt by her mother-in-law's statements. “Mapapanood po ‘yon ng apo ninyo at some point in time kasi nasa Internet na. Nanay po niya ako. Kahit anong gawin ninyo, lumabas siya sa sinapupunan ko. Ako po ang magpapalaki, ako po ang magsusumikap para maitaguyod si Baby James. Masakit po para sa akin na ‘yong apo po ninyo sisiraan ang nanay niya sa kanya. Kasi magkahiwalay po man kami, kadugo ninyo pa din ang anak ko." Kris added, "Magsakripisyo na ako, manahimik na ako, magpakumbaba na ako. Handa kong gawin ‘yon dahil ganoon ko kamahal ang anak ko. Sana po kahit konting pagmamahal bigyan ninyo din ang anak ko." Kris's lawyers have filed declaration of nullity of marriage to James's camp last August 9. According to Article 7 of the Family Code, the marriage "lacks the authority of the solemnizing officer."
