PAGASA: More rains loom over Visayas, Mindanao

Residents in Visayas and Mindanao, including those in flood-hit areas in Zamboanga City, may have to brace for more rains due to an inter-tropical convergence zone Monday. The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the ITCZ will affect Central and Southern Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. "Central and Southern Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao will experience mostly cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms. The rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms," it said in its 5:00 a.m. bulletin. It said light to moderate winds blowing from the southeast to northeast will prevail over the entire archipelago with slight to moderate seas except during thunderstorms. During the weekend, knee-deep floods hit several villages in Zamboanga City, prompting many families there to evacuate to safer grounds. Local authorities brought relief goods to the affected families, whose houses were flooded with muddy waters. Meanwhile, Pagasa's extended forecast for Zamboanga City indicated mostly cloudy weather with scattered rainshowers until at least Wednesday. –VVP, GMANews.TV
