Police: Suspects in Singaporean's killing fall in Ilocos

Nearly three months after the incident, police arrested a father and son linked to the killing of a Singaporean national in Ilocos Sur province last May. Radio dzXL reported Monday that a witness positively identified Juanito Tugade and son Jeslie as the killers of Cyrill Gomez, a retired Singapore police official. Chief Inspector Benaflor Banawagan, head of the provincial police's Criminal Investigation and Detection Group, said the two face charges of illegal possession of firearms, obstruction of justice and murder. Earlier reports indicated an unidentified man shot dead Gomez in Barangay 1 in Vigan City last May. Gomez was a retired Singaporean police officer turned businessman. He was married to a Filipina and residing in Barangay San Julian Sur in Vigan City. — RSJ, GMANews.TV
