PAGASA: LPA off Palawan may cause flashfloods, landslides

A low-pressure area (LPA) spotted off Palawan province may cause flashfloods and landslides in the western part of Southern Luzon, state weather forecasters warned Wednesday. The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said that as of 10:45 a.m., the LPA was some 290 km northwest of Puerto Princesa City. "This weather system is expected to bring cloudy skies with occasional to frequent rains over western section of Southern Luzon which may trigger flashfloods and landslides," it said. It advised residents in the concerned areas to take all the necessary precautionary measures. PAGASA earlier downplayed the chance the weather system would intensify into a cyclone. — LBG, GMANews.TV
