Report: 5 people in Makati fatal hazing incident 'surrender'

At least five people linked to the fatal hazing of University of Makati student E.J. Karl Intia last weekend have turned themselves in to authorities. Radio dzBB on Saturday reported the five “voluntarily" surrendered to Makati City police chief Senior Superintendent Froilan Bonifacio. Bonifacio did not immediately name the five, even as he said the hunt for the other suspects is still ongoing. Initial police investigation showed Karl died during hazing rites of the Alpha Phi Omega (APO) fraternity last weekend. His body was traced to a funeral parlor in Laguna province. APO members include Bonifacio and Vice President and former Makati City Mayor Jejomar Binay. However, both Bonifacio and Binay had condemned the incident. Calls for justice for Karl mounted Friday after his remains were identified by his father Oscar. Hours after learning of Karl’s fate, friends and supporters began their crusade for justice using Internet social networking sites.
