Don King sees Floyd Jr. knocking out Pacquiao

Leave it to the eminent Don King to hype and advertise Floyd Mayweather Jr. In his latest testimonial glorifying the undefeated loud mouth from Michigan, King boldly predicted that Mayweather would knock out Manny Pacquiao if and when the two biggest names in boxing today get to face each other inside the ring. The 78-year old veteran promoter with a bizarre hairdo said he doesn’t see the fighting Congressman from the province of Sarangani beating the crap out of Mayweather. Much more knocking out the 33-year old former U.S. Olympian. “They are the two best pound-for-pound fighters in the world, but Mayweather will knock Pacquiao out," said King in an interview by the London Times. “Pacquiao has two chances: slim and none. And slim just left town." Several times, King and Floyd Jr. had been seen in public together lately, fueling speculations that the former is trying acquire the promotional rights on Mayweather. Under his watch, according to King, Mayweather could become one of the richest – if not the richest – athlete in the world. “Whatever (Mayweather) makes, he could make more with me," King pointed out. “No one can generate money like I can. I never cease to amaze myself." And a fight with Pacquiao, the universally recognized pound-for-pound fighter in the world today, is definitely the richest there is for Mayweather. Unfortunately, issues ranging from random drug testing and the split of the prize purse had twice put negotiations on the backseat. But the sudden emergence of King as possible promoter of Mayweather - after being represented in the past by Golden Boy promotions - had given boxing fans enough hope that the fight the whole world wants to see will eventually happen – possibly by next year. King has been vocal about his desire to make the bout, stressing he and Bob Arum, Pacquiao’s promoter, did many unthinkable things in the past, such as promoting together the Rumble In The Jungle heavyweight title fight between Muhammad Ali and George Foreman and the classic Thrilla In Manila pitting Ali against Smokin’ Joe Frazier. “I’m a people’s person and Mayweather and Pacquiao would be a people explosion. It’s the fight the people want to see and they will come all over the world to see it," said King. “It will be like the Rumble In The Jungle. In those days, you did not have the same media outlets that you do now. It would be a world extravaganza." - RCJ, GMANews.TV
