State-owned NBN 4 to feature Pinoy indie films

The programming of state-owned television station National Broadcasting Network 4 (NBN 4) and radio station Radyo ng Bayan will be improved to promote Filipino movies and music, a Malacañang official said on Sunday. Presidential Communications Operations Secretary Herminio Coloma said they want NBN to be the station for Filipino directors to show their independent films, which are reaping international awards, while RzRB radio could be the channel for original Pilipino music (OPM) to flourish again. He said NBN 4’s programming would also be reformatted to contain more documentaries and programs that are educational and promote values formation. Coloma said NBN 4 and dzRB would be government’s main medium in the feedback system for the broadcast media. “We have to determine the pulse of the people through broadcast media," he said. He said his long-term strategic plan is to turn NBN 4 into something like the British Broadcasting Corp. (BBC). - KBK, GMANews.TV
