Some 300 families lost their homes in a fire that razed more than 200 houses in a residential area in Navotas City early Thursday night. Radio dzBB on Friday reported the fire started at 6:25 p.m. and razed the houses in West and Pitong Gatang villages. Fire Officer 2 Julius Lozano said the fire spread quickly as the houses were made of light materials, prompting firefighters to raise the alarm to general at 8:36 p.m. Lozano said no one was initially reported injured in the fire, which was put out past 10 p.m. A separate report on dzXL quoted Navotas fire marshal Chief Inspector Felix Medes as saying that as many as 300 families were rendered homeless because of the fire.
