Tropical storm Glenda enters RP


A tropical depression east of extreme northern Luzon has intensified into a tropical storm as it entered Philippine territory Sunday afternoon. In its 5 p.m. advisory, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the tropical storm, codenamed Glenda, is still too far to affect any part of the country. It said that as of 4 p.m., Glenda was estimated at 1,050 km east of extreme northern Luzon, with maximum winds of 65 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 80 kph. PAGASA said Glenda was moving west-northwest at 19 kph and is expected to be 790 km east-northeast of Basco, Batanes. By Tuesday afternoon it is expected to be 790 kms north-northeast of Basco, Batanes. Meanwhile, PAGASA said Luzon will experience mostly cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms, while the rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms. Moderate to strong winds blowing from the southwest will prevail over western section of luzon and coastal waters will be moderate to rough. Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate coming from the southwest with slight to moderate seas. - KBK, GMANews.TV
