NCRPO deploys 1000 more cops in Metro Manila for 'ber' months

Starting Wednesday, 1,000 added police personnel will be deployed throughout Metro Manila to guard against an expected upsurge in crime incidents during the "ber" months. Radio dzBB on Tuesday reported that National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) chief Director Leocadio Santiago Jr. ordered particular focus on the university belt and commercial centers. Santiago said he expects criminals to be more active in the coming months as the Yuletide season draws near, adding the Philippines has the reputation of having the world's longest Christmas season. He also appealed to the public to be more careful against snatchers, muggers and swindlers. On the other hand, he reminded his men to serve arrest warrants against criminals, especially those topping their "wanted" lists. Santiago said he expects all five district directors under him - Manila, Quezon City, Eastern, Southern and Northern - to be more alert against such crimes. — LBG, GMANews.TV
