PAGASA: Flash floods, landslides loom over parts of Luzon

Tropical cyclones "Florita" (Lionrock) and "Glenda" (Kompasu) may be out of Philippine territory, but they may still pose dangers to parts of Luzon. Both cyclones may still enhance the southwest monsoon rains and trigger flash floods and landslides, state weather forecasters said Wednesday. "Patuloy nito hahatakin at pag-ibayuhin ang southwest monsoon na magdudulot ng pag-ulan sa Hilaga at Gitnang Luzon na maaring magdulot ng pagbaha at pagguho ng lupa lalo sa kanlurang bahagi. Mag-ingat dito sa ganitong mga flash floods at landslides," Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) forecaster Elvie Enriquez said in an interview on dzBB radio. (Florita and Glenda can still enhance the southwest monsoon that will bring rains to Northern and Central Luzon. There may be flash floods and landslides in the western part of Luzon.) PAGASA's 5 a.m. bulletin also warned of monsoon rains over Northern and Central Luzon, and mostly cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers or thunderstorms on the rest of the country. Meanwhile, PAGASA warned of strong to gale force winds associated with the surge of southwesterly surface windflow enhanced by Florita and Glenda. It said strong to gale force winds will affect the seaboards of Luzon and the Visayas. — LBG, GMANews.TV
