Predawn accident causes Makati blackout

A blackout hit some areas in Makati City before dawn on Thursday after a concrete wall collapsed, bringing down an electric post. Radio dzBB’s Roland Bola reported that the area around Washington Street, Makati City experienced a brownout after the wall of an apartment building collapsed, snagging down the power lines of a nearby electric post. The electric post then fell down and damaged two parked vehicles. No one was reported injured due to the incident. Manila Electric Co. (Meralco) workers said power may not be restored until they replace the collapsed electric post, which supported the power transformers in the area. “Baka hanggang tanghali 'yan (The brownout may last until noon)," said a worker of the Manila Electric Co. who rushed to the scene to assess the damage. –VVP, GMANews.TV
