LTO to deploy lady enforcers starting September 20

Starting on September 20, the Land Transportation Office (LTO) will deploy lady enforcers to major thoroughfares to help catch traffic violators. LTO head Virginia Torres said her agency will initially deploy some 20 LTO lady enforcers. Torres urged motorists and commuters to continue reporting traffic violations by calling the LTO Hotline 921-9071 during office hours. "Nakita ko during our days na pag lady enforcers ang nahuhuling drivers di nagagalit, natutuwa pa ang iba (I noticed during our days that drivers caught by lady enforcers do not get mad. Some of them are even glad)," Torres, herself a former female traffic enforcer, said in an interview on dzBB radio. She said the lady enforcers, who will wear white uniforms with vests, are trained to be courteous but uncompromising. In Metro Manila, she said the initial batch of lady enforcers will be assigned to Epifanio delos Santos Avenue (EDSA) and areas where colorum buses pass. "Handa ang lady enforcers sa pagkakataon. Usually mababait sila pero kung iaaway sila ready ang ating lady enforcers, paalalay sila sa male enforcer (Our lady enforcers are ready for confrontations. They will be courteous but if the violator wants a confrontation, they are ready to call their male counterparts for help)," Torres said. –VVP, GMANews.TV
