Roach describes Floyd Jr's rant a cheap blow

And the word war is on. While Manny Pacquiao chose to ignore the latest video outburst of Floyd Mayweather Jr against him, look who took up the cudgels for the Filipino boxing superstar. No other than his father-figure trainer Freddie Roach. “It’s really a cheap low blow, but again, consider where it came from," said Roach of the short internet clip by Mayweather the other day, where he referred to Pacquiao as `Poochiao’, `midget’, and `chump’ while again suggesting the idea that he may be taking performance enhancing drugs. “We tried to fight him (Mayweather). He said no. He doesn’t want to fight." The controversial video came out just as Pacquiao is in the midst of a whirlwind promotional tour for his Nov. 13 fight with Antonio Margarito, where the vacant World Boxing Council (WBC) light-middleweight crown will be at stake. In the broadcast, Mayweather claims he’s in a vacation from boxing right now, but vows that once he makes a comeback, he’s going to beat the hell out of the world’s best pound-for-pound fighter today. “When we do comeback, we will kick Poochiao’s ass," he said in the UStream broadcast. “I’m letting the fans know, don’t worry, we will kick Poochia’s ass." “Once I beat him, it’s going to be a cakewalk," added Floyd Jr. “And then it’s on to the next, and on to the next." Pacquiao admitted not having seen the clip, saying, “I just heard about that, but I didn't see the video." Mayweather’s rant came a day after Pacquiao claimed, “I don’t need him, he needs me,", when asked if he’s still interested in facing inside the ring the brash native of Grand Rapids, Michigan following two failed negotiations in the past. After the second attempt to put up the fight many labeled as perhaps the biggest and richest in boxing history broke down again, Pacquiao was forced to look for other options, before finally settling with Margarito, the controversial Mexican who was suspended for a year owing to the plaster-like substance found in his hand wraps before fighting Sugar Shane Mosley. Rather than mind a fighter who comes up with many excuses just to avoid facing him, Pacquiao said he’s more focused now on his 12-round meeting with the 5-foot-11 Margarito. And at the moment, a fight with Mayweather is definitely not foremost in him. “I’m not looking for that fight," said Pacquiao, owner a 51-3-2 record with 38 knockouts. “I’m satisfied with what I’ve done in boxing already." - RCJ, GMANews.TV
