White towel saves fishermen stranded in Palawan


Thanks to a white towel that they waved at passing seacoast guards, two fishermen who were stranded off Palawan province last week, were rescued. According to a report of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) on Monday, the two men waved a white towel to attract one of its patrol teams at around 5:00 p.m. on September 1. Those rescued were Diosdado Gabuco, 60; and Richard Pulilan, 23. They were riding the motor banca "Jen Paulo," owned by Radoc Bacnan. The two left Turda village in Coron town at 5:30 p.m. on August 31 to fish. However, some 3.5 nautical miles northeast of Malamawig village in Coron, the boat developed engine trouble. The two were rescued by members of the PCG detachment in Turda (Coron, Palawan. Both men were reported to be safe and in good physical condition. –VVP, GMANews.TV
