PNoy has no time for love life

With all the problems besetting the country today, President Benigno Aquino III is left with no time for his love life. Aquino, the Philippines' first bachelor president, said work takes up even his Sundays. "Sa totoo lang ho, kung saka-sakaling magkaroon ako ng oras, wala naman hong privacy. Maski ano’ng puntahan natin, kay supermarket, kay restaurant, kay sinehan, marami hong nakikisama kung magkakadate," he said when asked about his love life in a panel interview with news anchors from GMA 7, ABS-CBN, and TV 5. (Truth is, even if I find the time, there'd be no privacy. Wherever we go, be it a supermarket, restaurant, or a cinema, many people would join our date.) Aquino said people always want to have his picture taken with them whenever he goes out. When asked by GMA 7’s Mel Tiangco whether there is still hope for “hopeless romantics" like her to see the President have a First Lady, Aquino said in a light tone, "Sabi ho ng mga Amerikano (Like what the Americans say), hope springs eternal." Aquino's girlfriend is Valenzuela City Councilor Shalani Soledad, but the two have rarely been seen together in public since Aquino assumed the presidency last June 30. They were recently together last August 1 at La Salle Greenhills, during the commemoration of the death anniversary of Aquino's mother, former President Corazon Aquino.—Jam L. Sisante/JV, GMANews.TV
