Muslims in Quiapo: A photo essay by Rick Rocamora

US-based Filipino documentary photographer Rick Rocamora visits the Muslim enclave in Quiapo almost every time he is in the Philippines. Having experienced discrimination as a person of color in the United States, Rocamora can relate to what Filipino Muslims go through as they try to earn a living and go to school in Manila. This collection of images taken in the last 12 months is a glimpse into the lives of Muslims in Quiapo: inside the Islamic Center, at the weekend Madrassa (Islamic school) at Geronimo Elementary School, after Jumah or Friday prayers, and after Eid'l Fitr, the holiday that marks the end of Ramadan or the Islamic holy month of fasting.
