RORO with 412 passengers stalls off Boracay Island

Some 412 passengers were stranded off Boracay Island in Western Visayas after a roll-on-roll-off vessel (RORO) they were riding went dead in the water Friday. Radio dzBB's Carlo Mateo reported that the MV Cecilia of Montenegro Shipping Lines was heading to Caticlan from Mindoro when its engines conked out. The RORO vessel had 412 passengers and 47 crew, the report said. Coast Guard officials said they are making arrangements for another Montenegro Shipping vessel to tow to the stranded vessel and rescue the stranded passengers. — LBG, GMANews.TV
