Stalled train disrupts MRT operations

A power glitch that hit one of its trains disrupted the operations of the Metro Rail Transit (MRT-3) early Saturday morning. Lyndon Posadas of the MRT control center said the problem involved one of the MRT coaches on northbound trail of the Santolan station near Camp Crame. "We had a technical problem with the train on the northbound track of Santolan Station. The train encountered a power failure so we had to get another coach to tow it," Posadas said in Filipino in an interview on dzBB radio. He said they expected MRT operations to return to normal before 7 a.m. A separate report by dzBB's Manny Vargas indicated the problem started shortly after 6 a.m., when passengers noticed a 10-minute interval in train arrivals. The report said an announcement was made at the Santolan station informing passengers of the technical problem, and advising them to take other forms of transportation. — LBG, GMANews.TV
