PAGASA: Downpour in Metro Manila not yet due to 'Inday'

The heavy downpour that hit parts of Metro Manila Wednesday afternoon stemmed from a localized thunderstorm and not from Tropical Depression Inday, state weather forecasters said. Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) forecaster Cris Perez said "Inday" is still too far to directly affect any part of the country. "Localized thunderstorm yan [na] dulot ng inter-tropical convergence zone (It was a localized thunderstorm due to the inter-tropical convergence zone)," Perez said in an interview on dzRH radio. When asked if Wednesday afternoon's rains were connected with Inday, he said: "Wala po (there is none)." Pagasa's 5 p.m. bulletin indicated that as of 4 p.m., Inday was estimated at 560 km east of Basco, Batanes province packing maximum sustained winds of 55 kph near the center and is forecast to move northwest at 11 kph. PAGASA said Luzon and Visayas will experience mostly cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms while the rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms. — RSJ, GMANews.TV
