Coast Guard rescues 2 fishermen stranded off Palawan

Coast Guard personnel rescued two fishermen stranded off Palawan province after their boat stalled before dawn Thursday. The Coast Guard said Friday the fishermen's banca "Sherlyn" encountered engine trouble off Banuang Daan village in Coron, Palawan at 3:30 a.m. It said it deployed a search-and-rescue team to the site after receiving reports about the stranded fishermen. Rescued by the team were Alberto Javier, 56; and Jasal Javier, 28. The initial investigation showed the "Sherlyn" encountered engine trouble while heading for fishing venture. After the rescue, the crippled fishing vessel was towed to the shoreline of Turda village in Coron, but its two passengers were reported to be in good physical condition. –VVP, GMANews.TV
