Don't buy substandard Christmas lights — DTI

With 97 days to Christmas left and ticking, trade officials started cracking down on substandard holiday lights that may endanger life and property. In a report on radio dzBB Sunday, Trade Undersecretary Zenaida Maglaya appealed to the public to buy only Christmas lights that comply with Philippine standards, saying these products are regulated and subject to inspections by the Bureau of Product Standards. The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) reminded consumers and vendors to patronize only Christmas lights with Import Commodity Clearance (ICC) and Philippine Standards (PS) seals. Those that have no PS and ICC and seals will be confiscated, the department said, JE/VS, GMANews.TV.
