Maguindanao town treasurer shot dead in NCotabato

KIDAPAWAN CITY – An unidentified gunman on Monday shot dead the municipal treasurer of Datu Montawal town in Maguindanao province. Dr. Alonto Bangcolit was driving his gray Toyota Hilux (TJK 552) on his way to the University of Southern Mindanao in Kabacan town, North Cotabato when the suspect shot him in the head four times, according to Senior Inspector Akmad Mama, deputy chief of Kabacan police. Citing witnesses’ accounts, Mama said the gunman, who came from the east portion of the USM Avenue, fled through a motorcycle that he left parked a few meters from the crime scene. Bangcolit was declared dead on arrival at the Kabacan Medical Specialist Hospital in Kabacan. Mama said they’re studying two angles behind the killing. “It could be a rido (clan war) or work-related," he said. Police have launched manhunt operations against the suspect who fled to Pikit-Cotabato City highway after the incident. – Malu Cadelina Manar/KBK, GMANews.TV
