Couple shot dead in Cotabato City — police

KIDAPAWAN CITY – KIDAPAWAN CITY – A couple was shot dead by still unidentified gunman after they brought their two children to school in Cotabato City, around 6:30 a.m. Wednesday, a police official said. Cotabato City Police Inspector Noel Gutierrez identified the victims as Noli and Bailyn Luminog, both residents of Poblacion-8, Cotabato City. The couple was on board a Toyota Revo when a lone gunman shot them three times. The suspect first shot the husband and later the wife. Both died on the spot. Police are facing a blank wall as to the motive of the attack, Gutierrez said. On Tuesday, a farmer was shot dead by still unidentified gunman while inside his house in East Patadon, in Kidapawan City, around 9 p.m. Kidapawan City police identified the victim as Monaim Dilaminan, a resident of Barangay Patadon. Authorities said Dilaminan was preparing to go to bed when the attacker shot him using an M16 assault rifle. The victim died on the spot. The killing took place a day after Montawal municipal treasurer Alonto Bangcolit was shot dead while on his way to a state university in Kabacan town, some 20 minutes travel from Kidapawan City. — Malu Cadelina Manar/LBG/RSJ, GMANews.TV
