Lady Stags, Lady Falcons dispute V-League crown

Now, it’s down to one final game. San Sebastian and Adamson square off in a winner-take-all, Game 3 finals encounter of the Shakey’s V-League Season 7 second conference Thursday at The Arena in San Juan City. The Lady Stags forced a rubber match, following a four-set victory in Game 2. With momentum on their side, the Lady Stags go for the jugular and end several heartbreaking bridesmaid finishes. But for San Sebastian coach Roger Gorayeb, his team’s chances of winning the crown depend on his players’ consistency. “We need to play consistent. Consistency has always been a problem. If we play consistent, we have a big chance of winning," said Gorayeb, whose squad is eyeing its second title in the league. Conference Best Scorer and Thai import Jeng Bualee along with conference MVP Suzanne Roces are expected lead the Lady Stags’ power game while mainstays Joy Benito, Bonsai Mirasol, setter Jennelyn Belen and Elaine Cruz will also need to provide ample support. The Lady Falcons are also also seeking their second league crown. Expected to lead the Lady Falcons’ charge are Best Blocker Paulina Soriano, Best Receiver Angela Benting, Best Digger Angelica Vasquez, and guest players Nerissa Bautista and Michelle Laborte. San Sebastian produced more hits than Adamson, 64-50, in Game Two to keep its hopes for another championship alive and finally win the big one. The Lady Stags won five runner-up finishes. - RCJ, GMANews.TV
