1,057 pass marine engineer officers licensure exams

A total of 1,057 examinees — or about 60 percent of the 1,759 takers — passed the written phase of the various licensure examinations for marine engineers given early this month, according to the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC). In addition, 419 applicants were approved for upgrading without examination as Chief Engineer Officers, the PRC said. The oath-taking ceremony of the successful examinees will be held before the Board for Marine Engineer Officers on October 29, 2010 at 1 p.m. at the S.M.X., Seashell Drive, Mall of Asia Complex, Pasay City. Certificate of Competency and Certificate of Endorsement will be distributed during the oath taking ceremony to the Chief Engineers and Second Engineers who successfully passed the examinations and completed the required STCW 95 compulsory training and sea service.
