Report: Tuba-tuba downs eight kids in GenSan

At least eight children were rushed to a hospital in General Santos City after suffering stomach pains for eating tuba-tuba (jathropa) late Thursday. Bombo Radyo reported the incident occurred at Labangal village in General Santos City, after the children enjoyed an afternoon swim in a river there. The report described the children as being between four and seven years old. An investigation showed the children took a dip in the Silway River with their playmates, and then picked some tuba-tuba fruits, which they brought home and ate.
