Store water good for 3 days, residents of 5 cities told


At least 20 areas in five cities in Metro Manila were reminded Monday to store water for at least three days due to a scheduled water interruption from Tuesday to Thursday. Radio dzBB reported Monday that the interruption, caused by a shutdown of the Angat Hydroelectric Power Plant, will last from 6 a.m. Tuesday to 9 p.m. Thursday. To be affected are the cities of Caloocan, Valenzuela, Malabon, Las Piñas, and Quezon.


Maynilad Water is one of two concessionaires of the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System. It services the west sector. It said the National Power Corp. will temporarily shut down Angat Hydroelectric Power Plant "to conduct repair and maintenance work." A list of affected areas as indicated on Maynilad's website dated September 24 included the following:
  • Caloocan City: Barangay Bagong Barrio;
  • Valenzuela City: Barangays Maysan, Marulas, Karuhatan, Gen T. de Leon;
  • Malabon City: Barangays Potrero, Tugatog, Acacia, Dampalit, Tanza, Tangos, Hulong Duhat, San Jose, Sipac-Almacen;
  • Las Piñas: Barangays CAA (Upper portion), Talon 1 (Upper portion); and
  • Quezon City: Barangays Batasan Hills, Bagong Silangan, Holy Spirit, Nagkaisang Nayon. — RSJ, GMANews.TV
