Report: Cops eye 'mistaken identity' angle in Bar exam blast

Police investigators are verifying reports that the Bar exam blast on Sunday was a case of "mistaken identity." According to a radio report, the targets were reportedly members of the Tau Gamma Phi fraternity but the explosive landed in an area where Alpha Phi Beta members were staying. Radio dzBB's Carlo Mateo also reported the Manila Police District (MPD) are zeroing in on one suspect who may have thrown the explosive. Around 47 persons were injured on Sunday because a stampede occurred immediately after the blast. Initial information indicated that a suspect wearing a T-shirt with a "Greek letter" may have lobbed the explosive. The police have asked security officers of the De La Salle University for closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage of the blast to get more evidence against the perpetrators. The MPD has already formed a task force to look into Sunday's incident, which disrupted the usual festive end to the Bar exams. Earlier, the MPD said it is looking into the involvement of at least two law fraternities in the blast. –VVP, GMANews.TV
