Margarito not worried about Pacquiao's pound-for-pound ranking
Bigger and stronger, Antonio Margarito is not worried that his next opponent happens to be the world's top pound-for-pound fighter Manny Pacquiao. A 5-1 underdog against Pacquiao in their November 13 title showdown for the World Boxing Council (WBC) light-middleweight crown, the 32-year-old Margarito believes he’s capable of defying the odds and beating the Filipino seven-division world champion. "I feel confident of knocking him out," said the Mexican warrior from Tijuana, Mexico during a brief interview from his training camp at Oxnard, California courtesy of Top Rank publicist Ricardo Jimenez. The 5-foot-11 Margarito said he doesn’t see Pacquiao beating him in a division where the native of General Santos City is fighting for the first time. The 12-round bout will be held at a catch weight of 150 lbs. "In this weight, I am stronger than him," Margarito admitted. The Mexican has started sparring in training camp, going for four rounds against a sparmate personally picked by trainer Robert Garcia. Margarito added they already have Pacquiao all cut into pieces. “It’s a question of putting a lot of pressure on him. That’s why I’m not really concerned about him as long as I train hard." Margarito said that although he respects the Filipino people, he believes there is no way Pacquiao can beat him two months from now at the Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas. "I am sorry to tell them that I will be the one who will win this fight," he said. – KY/JVP, GMANews.TV
