Pacquiao shows off speed vs sparmate Medina

After sparring with Manny Pacquiao for the first time, Michael Medina finally learned what others before him already knew. "He's very fast," said the 24-year old Mexican, who sports a 24-2 record with 19 knockouts. "I've never sparred against a guy like Manny Pacquiao. I tried to pin him off the ropes but I couldn’t." "He's the best I've ever sparred with." Pacquiao sparred for the second time during his training camp at the Cooyeasan Hotel in Baguio City as part of his preparation for the November 13 title fight with Antonio Margarito. His training regimen is expected to shift to a higher gear this week. Sparring sessions began last Thursday where Pacquiao went four rounds with Glen Tapia, a Dominican Republic native now based in New Jersey. Medina seems to have given Pacquiao a better sparring session in the eyes of his adviser Michael Koncz. "Medina is more aggressive. He throws a lot of bombs out there," said Koncz. More sparmates will be arriving in the coming weeks, including unbeaten light-welterweight prospect Vanes Martirosyan. "They're coming in by next week," said trainer Freddie Roach, who hopes training camp will begin to pick up beginning Monday. Sparring is scheduled Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, which Roach strictly ordered as a closed-door activity following the rush of boxing fans and curious onlookers when Pacquiao and Medina went at each other furiously for the first time just the other day. – JVP/KY, GMANews.TV
