British B/E Aerospace to build aircraft interiors in RP

British firm B/E Aerospace Inc. has opted to make the Philippines its manufacturing site of interior design products for commercial, business jet, and military aircraft, British Ambassador Stephen Lillie said Monday. In a press statement, Lillie said that B/E Aerospace will create more than 300 new jobs for Filipinos. Among the 32 countries B/E Aerospace reviewed, the Philippines will be the firm’s manufacturing site for galleys of the Airbus A350XWB, a new generation wide-body aircraft, according to the ambassador. “I hope this will go to show that the Philippines offers opportunities for business success not only in the service sector but in manufacturing also," said Lillie, noting that the first phase of the investment is worth over $30 million. “We hope the [Aquino] administration will take pro-active measures to create a more attractive investment climate for the Philippines so that there will be even more projects like this." he added. —Jesse Edep/VS, GMANews.TV
