Coast Guard: NFA exec, 2 others rescued off Romblon

A manager of a National Food Authority provincial branch and two others were rescued after their vessel was stranded off Romblon Monday night. The Philippine Coast Guard said Tuesday the motorized banca encountered engine trouble between San Agustin and Romblon towns in Romblon province at 6:50 p.m. Monday. Rescued were NFA Romblon branch manager Edmundo Enrique; boat skipper Christopher Regala; and boat crew Julito Haron. "Said motorized banca encountered engine trouble and was half-submerged due to big waves that occurred in the area," the Coast Guard said. An investigation showed NFA employees Rodrigo Embate and George Merano reported to the Coast Guard Romblon station that their service banca encountered engine trouble and requested for assistance. The rescued passengers and crew arrived at Romblon Port at 8:38 p.m. Monday, the Coast Guard said. — LBG, GMANews.TV
