GMA-7 sets new trend in afternoon Dramarama block with Koreana

After years of revitalizing Filipino classics, GMA-7 is ready to set a new trend on its unbeatable afternoon drama block as it proudly presents its first original Sinenovela offering titled Koreana. The program will begin airing on October 11 right after Trudis Liit. A compelling tale about a young girl’s quest for love, closure, and self-actualization, Koreana draws inspiration from Korea’s rich and colorful tradition which has expressly reached Philippine shores, and combines with our very own.

Playing the lead role no less is Sinenovela Princess Kris Bernal in the role of Jenna, a strong-willed and kind-hearted Korean-Filipina who dreams of returning to her roots, and reuniting with her biological family. In preparation for her role, Kris studied the Korean language under a professional coach and took cooking lessons to ensure the authenticity of her acting. More beautiful and fresh-faced than ever, the young actress is back on the afternoon block, where she first established herself as one of GMA-7’s most promising and sought-after leading ladies after starring in the phenomenal Dapat Ka Bang Mahalin? From there, she was cast in several other top-rating programs including All My Life, the fantaserye The Last Prince and most recently, an internationally-shot episode of Love Bug. This time around, Kris will have not just one, but two equally fine-looking leading men by her side: StarStruck Season 5 second prince Rocco Nacino, who plays the rebellious Benjo and StarStruck Season 5 Ultimate Male Survivor Steven Silva, who takes on the role of Joshua, an uptight and goal-oriented half-Korean. Completing the cast are Angelu de Leon, Eula Valdez, Lotlot de Leon, Sab Magalona, Sylvia Sanchez, Joyce Ching, Luigi Revilla, Grace Lee, Dinky Doo, Marco Morales and Eddie Garcia. Directed by Gil Tejada and originally written by Richard ‘Dode’ Cruz, the inspiring journey of Koreana begins this Monday, October 11 after Trudis Liit on GMA Haponalo. Viewers in the United States, Asia Pacific, and Middle East can catch Koreana beginning October 14 on GMA Pinoy TV, the flagship international channel of GMA Network. – iGMA.TV/GMA Network
