Nurses to form human chain for gang-rape victim
As an act of support for a colleague who was gang-raped in Mindanao, community health nurses said they will form a human chain in Manila on Friday. The nurses also called on government to make sure there is no whitewash or covering up of wrongdoings in the investigation into the gang-rape of a nurse in Maguindanao in September. Radio dzBB's Carlo Mateo reported that nurses will form a human chain at noon on Friday in front of the Philippine Nurses Association office in Ermita, Manila. Health officials earlier said the gang-rape victim's condition had stabilized, and was responding to commands but her consciousness was still "fleeting." President Benigno Simeon Aquino III ordered Justice Secretary Leila de Lima to look into the case, particularly into allegations that scions of influential families were involved in the incident. — VVP, GMANews.TV
