Suspected troublemaker falls 4 stories from QC hall building

Still in handcuffs, a 30-year-old man facing charges of malicious mischief fell four stories from the City Hall building in Quezon City early Friday. Radio dzBB's Allan Gatus reported police are looking into whether the fall of 30-year-old Jonathan Gastor was a suicide attempt or an escape try. "Nakaupo siya sa tapat ng receiving section, katabi niya ang complainant na nakahuli sa kanya, biglang lumundag na lang doon (He was just sitting on the bench at the receiving section when he bolted and jumped from the fourth floor)," one of his police escorts, Police Officer 3 Constante, said in an interview on dzBB radio. He said his colleagues managed to get a hold of his leg but the grip was not tight enough to keep him from falling. Constante said Gastor bolted from his bench while waiting to be formally charged before the city prosecutor's office at the building's fourth floor. According to police, Gastor faces charges of malicious mischief after he was caught throwing stones at a Metropolitan Manila Development Authority vehicle. Gastor was rushed to a hospital after the fall. Constante said he showed no indication he planned to commit suicide. "Normal siyang kausap, walang pinagkakitaang may binabalak (He behaved normally and did not show any suicidal tendency)," he said. — LBG/RSJ, GMANews.TV
