Report: Flash floods hit Mindoro Oriental town


Several villages in Mindoro Oriental province were submerged in floods caused by heavy rains since Thursday night. Radio dzBB's Sam Nielsen cited initial reports reaching Philippine National Police headquarters in Camp Crame indicating the floods affected villages in Socorro town, Mindoro Oriental. The initial reports said the floods were knee-deep in some of the villages as of 9:30 a.m. Friday. The police were still coordinating with local disaster management officials as of Friday morning to determine the extent of damage to property. Socorro is a second-class town with a population of 37,176 and 7,355 households. –VVP, GMANews.TV
