Nueva Ecija vice mayor shot dead while jogging

Unidentified motorcycle-riding men shot dead a vice mayor while he was jogging in Nueva Ecija province before dawn Saturday. Licab town police chief Senior Inspector Danilo Eduardo said Vice Mayor Luisito Caraang was rushed to a hospital but died while undergoing treatment. "Nagja-jogging si Vice Mayor, may kasamang dalawa. May naka-motor galing sa likuran at binaril siya (He was jogging with two men when motorcycle-riding men shot him from behind)," Eduardo said in an interview on dzBB radio. He said Caraang was hit in the body and was rushed to a hospital in Cabanatuan City but died while undergoing treatment. Initial investigation showed the incident occurred at 5:10 a.m. Saturday, he added. Eduardo said Caraang had been jogging in the area for a month now, with only two security personnel with him. He said they are still looking into the motive of the killing as the vice mayor had not mentioned receiving any death threat.
