MIAA orders tighter measures vs trafficking at NAIA-1

Manila airport authorities have ordered tighter measures against human trafficking, amid reports saying syndicates continue to send Filipino jobseekers abroad illegally. Government-run dzRB radio on Saturday reported the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) tightened measures at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA). MIAA general manager Jose Angel Honrado particularly ordered tighter measures at NAIA Terminal 1, which is being used by several foreign airlines. Honrado ordered tight watch at the terminal on a 24/7 basis, the report said. Also, he ordered closer coordination with the Department of Labor and Employment, Philippine Overseas Employment Administration, and Overseas Workers Welfare Administration. Government has taken measures to clamp down on illegal recruitment rings that have victimized many Filipino jobseekers. In many cases, the Filipinos are left stranded abroad without help. — LBG, GMANews.TV
